Damien Jurado, as an artist is bi-polar. He has written countless worthwhile songs that are often overlooked, hidden behind stacks his sub par releases. There is such thing as being too prolific(see Will Oldham) and Jurado definately is.

Damien Jurado - Medication (click the link and download from there)

That said, in this song: the musician, the writer, and the voice shine. It paints the picture of an every man, with his crazy brother and his lover undercover and her cop husband. The lead man is tied down, probably in a small town, taking care of everyone else but himself. It's the simple, implied passion echoing throughout the song that makes it a story worthy of Elliott Smith, and perhaps even Dylan. If only there were more songs like these from Damien Jurado.

This is the second most played song on my itunes. I'm not going to tell you the first, that will come later. And Now That I'm In Your Shadow, has four demos recorded over the phone. Buy his music here.
